Stoke on Trent is a great place to learn to drive. From quiet town routes, to busy city roads, to dual carriageways and country roads, it’s easy to cover all aspects of the DSA’s learner syllabus without travelling far.
Where will I drive?
All of our driving instructors at Drive Ahead have a wealth of experience and knowledge of the Stoke on Trent area. We’ll start you off on a quiet route to get you familiar with the car, its controls, and the basics on the road. As your experience grows we’ll take you on busier roads around the nearby towns of Longton, Fenton, Newcastle and Hanley.
Stoke on Trent has a variety of large and small businesses which makes our traffic conditions very varied. From the school run in the morning, the busy town centres with lots of pedestrians, the large HGV’s travelling through the City, to the quieter, but fast moving country roads. Whatever time of day, there’s ample opportunities to improve your driving and increase your hazard perception awareness.
There’s then lots of areas where you’ll be able to practice your manoeuvres.
Which test centre will I use?
Stoke is centrally placed between 2 driving test centres. There is the Newcastle test centre in Trent Vale, and the Cobridge test centre. Depending on your exact location, your driving instructor will guide you to which test centre they feel best suits your driving. As Stoke is in close proximity to both test centres, it’s easy to get plenty of driving experience at either centre.
